BTW, this reminded me of you because Alabama! I was reading about “spite houses” and quickly discovered that jarring/incongruous paint jobs (like the rainbow “Equality House”) are also a favorite form of payback. Turns out there are also “spite statues” like this one and the Baphomet one in Oklahoma.

Human beings are nothing if not creative, LOL.
