exactly. here was someone who exemplified and lived the American Dream: coming from a non-privileged background, making it to be editor of Harvard law Review, the US Senate and then the highest office in the land through hard work and dedication…what could be more inspiring for Americans of all races and backgrounds?

But to recognize that would mean at least grudgingly acknowledging his accomplishments and for some reason, they could not do that: instead we heard that he was at best an affirmative action upstart, at worst, a Kenyan Muslim Macnhurian Candidate or even The Antichrist Incarnate.

his accomplishments imply that they’d have to do the same amount of hard work (birthright privilege / head starts aside) to achieve the same level of success. and that’s more than any of them want to do. they want it handed to them.
