Carl Hiaasen’s books “Kick Ass” and “Paradise Screwed” - collections of his columns in the Miami Herald - showcase how dumb, bizarre, vain, and utterly corrupt the powerful can be in Florida. Good reads.

With that said, this does not surprise me in the slightest.
