BoJo is going to fall on his sword.

Not out of any sense of duty.

He’s going to be pushed upon it.

The news outlets are a buzz with rumors that BoJo wants to trigger Article 16 of the Brexit agreement he negotiated. In response, if he actually does that, the EU will probably just pack up and close down the whole effort to negotiate a special trade deal with the UK.

Then the border between the RoI and NI will become hard, with all the usual checks at border points between two nations without free movement.

And that will set off the Irish nationalists.

It’s all going to spiral out of control.

Unless BoJo gives up.

And if he doesn’t give up willingly (with this fight with the EU), then someone will shove him upon his sword.

Because the last thing the UK ought to do is close its borders even more, because the UK can’t feed itself, it can’t fuel itself, it can’t clothe itself.
