Agreed. Rockwell was painting for the Saturday Evening Post mostly, and it was hardly a counter-cultural rag. But those paintings certainly typify the kind of past many people associate with “traditional America.”

And yet, there’s Moving In, The Problem We All Live With, and (to my mind most evocative) Murder in Mississippi.
