So I see in other news that McConnell, the guy the pundits have put all their faith in to avert the fiscal cliff, is demanding spending cuts to “offset” the cost of extending federal unemployment for another year.

The stock market is gonna be a joy to watch next week. I imagine that it will look like ‘08 all over again for a lot of folks.

The only way McConnell can get a deal that the party base would accept is to get some sort of significant offsetting spending cuts. Anything else is likely to be rejected.
