With the dramatic gains made in the solar industry during the past decade allowing for significantly more efficient panels, I find it incredible that there isn’t a major push to get hundreds of thousands of locations (homes, businesses, etc) on the grid. Having power companies buy back excess energy at market prices - especially in areas like the southern US - would reduce major stress on energy supplies they experience during peak months.
