I will argue this no more now. Maybe it is necessary to let serious ciminals go free to lessen the incidence of police misconduct. Our system does work better than most, probably as good as any. But I remain unconvinced that punishing known, certain, serious crime despite (and as well as) police misconduct leads to less suffering not mroe. (I’m not arguing about ambiguous situtations or false evidence, which is a seperate matter.)
