Here is the real problem with the aftermath of full institutional racism in the south:
That was only 1954. We’re only 47 years away from that. A lot of young black kids have had to struggle with their homework because their parents weren’t educated, because their states decided they didn’t deserve a good education.
That was such a short-sighted policy it could make you weep.
And on-topic: It’s actually pretty goddamn amazing that in every war the US has fought, we’ve had black troops volunteering for it. Even back when they couldn’t get an education from their country, even back when they couldn’t vote, even back when their children were being called nasty names in school, they volunteered and fought for this country.
And they didn’t, except in incredibly minor incidents, turn to terrorism or violence to try to achieve rights.
