re: #537 Wendell Zurkowitz ((slave to the waffle light))
I never considered Bernie for a minute, and I saw that a great deal of his āsupportā was in the form of Machivellian ratfuckers who just wanted to see him attacking Hillary.
Well, one thing I certainly want to see going forward is āyou must be a Democratā to run in a Democratic primary.
In the three state primaries we have here (Democrats, Republicans, and Libertarians), the GOP and LP require you to be registered as a voter of those parties to vote. In the Dem primary here, those registered as Independents can request a Democratic ballot (per the rules of the Nebraska Democratic Party). I would like to see that rule tossed.
In the upcoming election, we have a decent chance in NE-2 of tossing Don Bacon from the House (the Dems are putting attention on that seat as one that is flippable). In the Senate, Jane Reybould has an uphill battle against Deb Fischer, but itās not impossible. Fischer was one of the first people to endorse Trump.
For now, Reyboud is running against Trumpās policies hurting agriculture and business (NAFTA, tariffs) rather than Trump directly. Thatās getting her attention. (My own newspaper is still treating the Democratic Primary as if it didnāt happen.)
For example, the latest article on primary races and voter turnout only mentions the Republican races and the pilot programme in Garden County of all-mail voting boosting turnout in the Republican Primary.
