Worse, they’re seen as provocations. Even if you’re genuinely advising someone to calm down, they get angrier. It’s some kind of flounce-feedback loop.

Here’s one simple tip on not provoking people who seem to be “considering a flounce”:

Don’t use the word “flounce.”
