Interesting take. You take a voter who’s never voted before and, when she finally goes for it, she votes for someone who’s the opposite of what she actually wants. Then you say that it’s the Democrats fault for not having their act together.

Are you familiar with the work of George Lakoff? Framing? And did you read the article I linked to on crank voters?

Railing against dumb and/or misinformed voters and demanding they change won’t help Democrats win elections. Like it or not, Democrats have to peel away enough of those voters to win the Electoral College and overcome gerrymandering. All I’m asking is that they consider coming up with a way to reach those reachable voters. If you think that’s unreasonable, you’re pretty much killing the messenger.

There’s this as well:

After the debates, Democracy Corps tested a message from Democratic candidates attacking Trump for his extreme attitudes and behavior versus a Democratic candidate demanding big economic changes and attacking their opponent for supporting for trickle-down and protecting corporate special interests. We found that the tough economic message performed dramatically better in consolidating millennials, white unmarried women and white working class women.
