This kind of thing is why I’m convinced that the discovery of a real immortality procedure would end civilization. Inevitably the worst people on the planet would make themselves (and only themselves) immortal. At which point the need for a fairly vigorous revolution would become very clear indeed.

The immortals would amass knowledge and power that would make them very hard to take down by the time they’re 100-150. The revolution would have to happen quickly.
