So a quick question on Dick’s? While I applaud what they are trying to do, can they actually refuse to sell something to someone who is legally entitled to buy that thing just based on age?

To me this would be sort of like a car dealership refusing to sell cars to anyone over 80 because so many old people accidentally step on the gas instead of the brakes and drive through CVS windows.

Seems like a 20 year old trying to buy a hunting rifle would have an excellent legal case against Dick’s.

Yes, they can refuse to sell it. They are not required to stock it.
