I imagine all the African Americans that live around me and have had to deal with this stuff all their lives and the effects that it had on their ancestors and yet still keep going and fighting. And they still smile when I say hi to them. That is part of what keeps me going. They don’t owe me this, but I owe it to them to keep working to make things better.
