Because people see and react to the tweets, but then when the actual article or fact checking comes out, it goes unnoticed, because it’s not like the original poster is going to correct themselves. It’s kinda maddening how often this happens.

nor does it happen by chance.

People like Matt Drudge and Breitbart perfected it when Twitter and social media were new, and realize that news agencies see no point in paying investigative reporters when all they need do is get some intern to mine the Internet for them…
