Nah. Reinforce them and build in some odd joint work and then use a good high-level golem spell to animate the corner turret. It then guards the house by *clubbing* intruders.

(Idea from a Fafhrd and Grey Mouser story. Also seen something along those lines in a RPG adventure collection.)
