re: #540 Wendell Zurkowitz ((slave to the waffle light))

Yes, I recall a number of Berniebros whining over closed primaries, but I find something like that to be in the Party’s interest, especially after 2016. They were in effect fighting a two-front war.

One of the village trustees registered as an independent (she is generally liberal-leaning) was complaining of the same thing after the meeting. She says she likes to be “no label” but the independent primary ballot is generally very sparse in candidates running. She complained she’d like to have a choice in the main candidates.

I gave her an analogy as why that doesn’t seem to me to be a good idea.

Say we have a rose fancy club and an iris fancy club in town. They are both running candidates for their board amongst their members, and the winners will get to run to be the representative flower club in our annual village party.

Why should people who don’t care about flowers at all, prefer growing poppies, or doesn’t do any of the work in either flower fancy club get to choose their board members?
