To me it’s all in how you view Capitalism. If you view it as an end in itself, almost as a religion, you’re almost certainly not progressive. If you see it as an economic system that works because it rewards risk taking and innovation, but which naturally concentrates wealth and power and therefore needs to be carefully and prudently regulated, then you can be a Progressive.

One of my favorite things about capitalism is that it doesn’t require a central planner. But even for that, there are some things that require a central planner and funding source: Education, research, and public services for instance.

It poses an interesting problem. What I need is a word that’s about 67% capitalist and 33% socialist to represent my views on what our economic system should be.
