He isn’t the one calling for war, it’s the Palestinians who are doing that. What Romney is saying is that they are at this point utterly unwilling to make peace with Israel and there really is not anything America can do to change their way of thinking. So what we should do is not try for or expect any kind of ‘breakthrough’, instead we should seek should seek to keep things under control. Mitt’s words on this are not “America, FUCK YEAH!”, but rather are a honest reflection of what America really can do with a fairly intractable situation.

Mitt Romney doesn’t want fighting between Israel and the Palestinians, but far too many Palestinians do want to fight. His words simply recognize that reality and set correct expectations.
