OT but has anyone here read Issak Babel’s Red Cavalry stories ever? Have to read these for my English course and I am finding it confusing. I guess I don’t do well with non-traditional narratives.

Yes. Babel is that way. He enjoys playing with perception a lot; a useful point of departure is trying to figure out through who’s eyes you’re seeing the scene.
