Well let me ask this way; How would the research be funded if the gov’t wasn’t paying for it?

Not a challenge question in the way you might be thinking. I’m asked this question (or something akin) from time to time, and given examples of industrial/medical/etc breakthroughs that weren’t government funded.

Just wondering how others answer this when asked.
