Why are you assuming that the only justification that genociders and war mongers can/will use is religion?

Yes, religion is commonly used for that purpose. So what. If I wave my magic wand and get rid of all religion, war and genocide will not thereby be eliminated.

Other justifications will be called upon. Tribe, class, nationality, grudges from earlier wars etc.
