My optimism is failing me today.

We are dealing with an unprecedented situation.

Trump is an incumbent who knows what will happen the moment he loses executive immunity. Heck, if he were to attend his successor’s inauguration, he would find himself served with warrants or even arrested as soon as he left the platform.

And not only does he have criminal organizations backing him up (the RNC, the Trump Organization), he has foreign governments (Saudi Arabia, Russia, et.) ready to interfere in his favor.

And he will has the full powers of the Executive Branch at his disposal. The only hindrance is his own incompetence and unwillingness to delegate and listen to advisers.
