Speaking of space, my old man’s watching a show on the Science Channel about what it mean for humanity if we made contact with an alien civilization and they traveled here. And even though I’m a Trek fan, even I realize that if aliens show up, the odds of them being friendly are exceedingly slim.

Possibly, but here’s how I see it.

If any alien species wanted to make contact with us, they’d obviously want to do some homework first. In that process they would probably discover that mankind is, for the most part, a greedy, deceitful, vindictive, selfish, power hungry species that does a poor job of taking care of its own people, the other species that inhabit this planet and the planet itself.

So, let’s say we have an alien race drawing a conclusion of humanity based on a year of observations of global politics, entertainments and environmental activities. I can’t say I’d be surprised if they were less then friendly if they decided to make contact.
