Mamiya, like many specialty photographic tool suppliers, did not survive the transition to digital. IMO the Mamiya attempts at digital were half hearted because they knew they were too small of a company to do it right.

The “medium format” camera world basically has gone extinct. Phase One is a relatively new company (by camera company standards) that picked up the pieces. Pentax continues on under now a second new corporate owner, as does “Hasselblad” which now isn’t what it used to be.

Yes, while the fashion world really digs the medium-format in digital, until the prices come down they are going to have to “deal with” 35mm sensors which are exceptional to say the least. It is unreal how photography has changed in just ten years. For better or worse (Instagram, cell phone cameras, Photoshop) is for you to decide.
