re: #546 Eclectic Cyborg

A number of comments I saw are making the usual “good guy with a gun”
argument. Meanwhile, I’m thinking: “When is the last time anybody shot up a coffee shop?”

Right and honestly the fallacy I have with the good guy with a gun scenario is it acts like the would-be hero would be able to get off an accurate shot at the shooter. I remember reading that during the Gabrielle Giffords shooting in Tucson, there was a bystander who was armed who thought about using his weapon but realized it would only create more chaos. I’d say my biggest problem with that is that it could confuse the police to who the actual shooter is and could make an already bad situation worse. I mean, I get that their intentions seem to be good but this isn’t a video game where you get a retry if you accidentally hit someone.
