OK here is a real world problem the GOP hates to ponder. So imagine there is a city with a lot of unskilled workers who need to get a job. Unfortunately, they are too poor to own cars and there is no reliable public transportation to get them to where the jobs are, out in the suburbs.

So WTF are they supposed to do to earn a living? The GOP loves to just truncate it with the message “Get a Job, loser”. or maybe say, well if we give enough millionaires tax beaks then maybe one of them will create a job for them people. But really, what are the options? Rush et al are the ones who will say both A) get a job you freeloader. and B) We don’t need public transportation.

Speaking of public transportation, there’s idiots out here railing against the proposed addition to the Metro system. Yet you know as well as I do that these will be the same people pissed off about traffic congestation. That’s why I favor more investment in public transit for urban/suburban areas. It cuts down traffic, probably helps the environment, etc.
