Isn’t your whole argument that insulting religion is unacceptable bigotry?

How are you going to reduce the power of religion if no one is allowed to criticize it, to insult its assumptions, its authority?

How is the goal of reducing the power/influence of radical Islamists (which is a goal I agree with) advanced by broad-brushing Islam/religion as the essential root of the problem?

Less radical measures, like promoting the notion of separation of church and state in the Islamic world, discrediting the extremists as being unfaithful to the better aspects of the own tradition, and aiding Islamic moderates, would surely be more effective.
