I own a handgun and a couple of .22 Rifles. I enjoy target shooting every now and then. I have no desire to own an AR-15 and I don’t think that any schmuck with a grudge should be able to easily get one. Heck, I don’t think ANYONE should be able to easily get one!

Valid point. The reverse is also true. For instance, I have a handgun (target shooting in a previous life) and a rifle (professional reasons), both of which are dismantled and have been for years. My husband was a hunter and had guns and he was all for the ban on assault weapons, a point Belafon also noted. I do not agree that all GOP voters are all-in on guns, in fact I think many if not most of even them would support assault weapons bans and increased gun restrictions. Of the GOP voters I know, guns are not their reasons for voting that way. The volume of the voices on Fox and Twitter are not indicative, IMO, of actual numbers.

I think many Americans would be willing to have gun restrictions on guns they don’t personally want. I don’t think many Americans would be willing to have restrictions on guns they do personally want or have, and I think they definitely would never consider giving up any guns they do have, even if it might save lives.

Under what circumstances would you give up your own guns?
