RWNJs are oblivious to change and the passage of time. Schlafly first came to national prominence in 1960, when she led a “revolt” against nominee Richard Nixon at the Republican National Convention. Her complaint was Nixon’s stated support for civil rights. The “southern strategy” was years in the future, and Nixon was basically reiterating the Eisenhower administration’s position.
