Getting Sessions to quit would theoretically allow Trump to get someone in there to fire Mueller. I suspect, though, that if they try, so many things are going to be released impeachment would be over before the nomination process is complete.

But, I just don’t see Sessions doing it. He’s getting to do a lot of damage right now, more than he could as Senator, and I think he really wants to be around to fuck with elections next year.

Alabama skulduggery might be even deeper. In one scenario, Luther Strange gives up his Senate seat, Sessions resigns from AG, Gov Ivey appoints Sessions to finish Strange’s term (which he got by filling in for Sessions), then Ivey cancels the election.

Even AL Republicans don’t know how much of this is legal, but right now they are making and interpreting the law.
