They always say, “my family didn’t even own slaves” as if the culture hasn’t powerfully preserved and transmitted the supremacist mindset for several generations.

The supremist mindset was important back then since part of the upper class control was convincing the lower class whites who they looked down on and exploited as well that they were superior to the blacks and as heavily invested as the upper class in maintaining that status quo.
