Unless I’m mistaken, a person baptised in the Catholic Church is a Catholic, unless they are formally ousted. Catholic is not “self-described.”

I’m willing to meet them halfway: They can enjoy the freedom to be bigoted assholes, but they will do so without federal support of any kind. Not a single federal dollar will go to their organizations and they will not be able to participate in federal programs. If they are not happy with that, then they can abide by the same rules that everybody else does under the 1A. Now put that in your pipe and smoke it, padre.
