The last ambulance ride I took was just a few blocks. The crew that picked me up weren’t particularly urgent about anything because I was bleeding out internally from a burst spleen and nothing showed, but I was pretty woozy. They actually asked me if I wanted them to turn the siren on, like I was the person to make that call. I figured the hospital was just a few blocks, so yeah, never mind, we’ll go in silence, and stop for the lights.
I don’t recall the cost, but I guess that ambulance ride and my blood pressure jumped me to the front of the line.
