Hi Dr Shalit! Thanks for the post. Yep, couldn’t agree more that it’s the design that makes or breaks. Also think you’re right on that UAW probably won’t hold onto shares if the company becomes profitable - for the very reasons you cite. I’m just concerned that union relations with management have historically been confrontational - often by necessity. IOW, I wonder if union management is in a position to make decisions that are, or appear to be, in conflict with the best interests of their members. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

See we shall. One of the MOST interesting stories is the one related by Iacocca - Honda wanted to produce engines, not cars at first. Rights to the engines were offered to Ford. HF II himself ruled it out - something about “No Jap Engines Under the Hood of Our Cars.” Oh, what might have been.
