Creationist: Nye wrong about moonlight because Beethoven said so

Nye was famously booed while giving a 2006 talk in Waco, Texas, where he pointed out the moon merely reflected light from the sun ad did not produce its own.

He referred to the incident last week on “Real Time” with Bill Maher, arguing that religious belief was holding back U.S. scientific and economic progress.

“You have this situation in Texas where people want to have creationism in textbooks,” Nye said. “Unlike some other acquaintances of mine, I don’t have any big deal about somebody else’s religion, but if you claim that the earth is 10,000 years old, that’s just wrong.”

Comfort discussed Nye’s appearance on his daily web video program, “The Comfort Zone”, accusing the scientist of mocking biblical teachings.

“He mocks that, and yet you take out what moonlight is in the dictionary, and it says it’s the light of the moon,” Comfort said. “The moon has light, it reflects the sun, (and) “Moonlight Sonata,” just lots of beautiful songs, the moon does.”
