Oddly enough, Gore volunteered and served in Vietnam, even though he was against the war, because if he went, it would be one less man to be drafted. You don’t hear the Right talk about that at all.

That’s because they talked about the second point he brought up as to why he went: Because going into the NG/reserves or even skipping the country would have looked bad for daddy and his career.
