It’s a very good question. Why a translator if the Russian lawyer speaks English. Who else was there that didn’t speak English? Or were they there for other reasons.

I thought I saw Veselnitskaya interviewed somewhere using a translator, so either she is faking it, or possibly wants to have back up in case she doesn’t quite understand something. Or, she doesn’t actually speak English.
