According to my son, the creator of Ghost in the Shell wanted the lead to be played by a western woman. I still would have preferred Emily Blunt.

IMHO, this will be a make-or-break chance at making live-action anime movies. If it works, there’s a whole vein at the ready for Hollywood to mine rather than constantly retreading remakes and the Marvel/DC franchieses. If it tanks, sayonara.
