Bill Clinton made efforts to avoid Vietnam because he thought the whole war was a bad idea. He didn’t think anyone should be sent.

Mitt Romney made efforts to avoid Vietnam, even though he thought it was such a great idea he organized pro-draft rallies on campus.

And when his number came up, he suddenly had a Mormon mission assignment in Paris, even though missionary work was not an excuse for a draft deferment.
