It should also be noted, though, that Wal-Marts also sell fresh foods whose absence in the inner city is often decried in the “food deserts” concept. Indeed, Wal-Mark used to fact that they sell fresh produce to help convince the Chicago city council to allow them to open stores within the city limits. So, an effective argument can be made the other way too.
