re: #567 Buck

I am really not trying to convince you. However maybe I consider indifference to be active. I don’t that people who clearly know better, can use the excuse that they didn’t actively participate.

Let me give you an example that might drive it home for you. If someone sits in their house of worship and hears every week mysogynist rants. Every week they hear their community leader spew the worst antisemitic garbage. Racism of the worst kind. Is that person really “inactive”?

I certainly see different classes of homophobia. Institutionalized homophobia. Religious homophobia, State-sponsored homophobia, Internalized homophobia, and Social homophobia. I really don’t see an “indifferent” homophobia. However if I did, I would NOT think of it as “not so bad”.

When you think of racism and anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a large group of people, to deny their humanity, their dignity and personhood… do you really think that those people who are only “indifferent” to the oppression are “not so bad”?

Well, I don’t. So when those people on the right oppress people, I speak up. I don’t support them. I don’t excuse them. Same with those on the left.

You still haven’t answered my question.

Is there any sort of evidence that I could present you with that would prove that homophobia on the right is worse than on the left?
