The overwhelming majority of the military accepts the idea the military is subservient to the civilian government and civil laws governing it.

Alan West was ousted from the military. Cotton was in the military for four years. (I was in for more than four times his time in the Army.) Cotton spent half his time in the Army performing ceremonial duties.

As for other combat since WW2, it is generally accepted when we have a mutual defence treaty with another country we will fight in that country (S. Korea, Kuwait, &c). I suppose we could just ignore our treaties (that’s what Mr. Trump wants to do).

If there was true justice Alan West would be in jail. The Air Force was caught preaching evangelical Christianity to their new recruits especially at the Academy. There is a large percentage that believes in right wing ideology. The freedoms they claim to love are freedoms for right wing white Christian males.

Helping Korea or Vietnam with their local conflicts has nothing to do with “protecting America and our freedoms” since none of those countries had any desire to ever attack America.
