I’ll say this. Kavanaugh is going to be confirmed, whether Heitkamp votes for him or not. The Democrats have a one-in-three shot of winning control of the US Senate, which is remarkably good considering how bad the senatorial map is for the Democrats this year. If Heitkamp thinks she needs to vote for Kavanaugh, I’m not going to hold it against her, because hers will not be the deciding vote; that vote belongs to Kyl when he got appointed to the Senate.
