If you go the Houston NWS site, pull up the Local Radar link, and click on Storm Total, you will note that there is a huge white area north and east of Houston that is white. If you look at the scale to the right, you will note that the white areas indicate that more than 25” of rain has fallen in that area.

What it it doesn’t mention is that within that area, there are spots where over 40” of rain has fallen.
