I found this interesting:
One of the images in the thread references, “Whatever happened to a two-week notice?” The answer is this: That is merely a professional courtesy. If you are being absolute assholes to your employees, they are not obligated, by any law, to provide you with two weeks’ notice of resignation. At-will employment works both ways; an employee can simply refuse to show up for work the next day. What are you going to do, fire them? Sadly, this is a pretty typical panic response from bosses who aren’t prepared to lose critical members of their team.
