I’m sorry, but “research” is a laughably fine, and meaningless, distinction. We gave them weapons. They used them to kill. We are accessories to mass murder in this case. Or, rather, Rumsfeld and Reagan are.

Can you prove the strains used to gas the kurds came from a US university? No, not when they bought other strains from the soviets, the french and the germans.

If your argument is we shouldn’t have had anything to do with Saddam then we’re in agreement. I think it’s another example of the failure of the “realist” foreign policy advocates. But the truth of the situation is the US supplied Saddam with mass amounts of intel but no weapons. I was there during the first gulf war and I know exactly the weapons systems he had at his disposal because it was my job. You don’t have to stretch the truth in order to make your argument.
