let these morons work themselves up into a frenzy until the day they go over the line, and at that time they will find out how strongly we ‘liberals’ will stand up and fight back for the real american values we will never surrender

It sounds apocalyptically weird to me, but I think there is a real danger here. There are quite a few of these conspiracy-crazed law enforcement officers around the country, mostly sheriffs and Podunk police like this Kessler loon. The attention they get from Alex Jones and other nutjob media tends to magnify their delusions and, in particular, the extent to which they think ordinary people share those delusions.
It’s possible to envision a scenario in which their cooperation; indeed, leadership; would allow a militia or other RW mob to gain effective control of a small town or suburb. Higher level law enforcement is really spread pretty thin, and it might be many hours before major resources could be brought together to regain lawful control. This depends entirely on how strongly the kooks want to resist. They probably won’t but it is not impossible that they will. With their blood up, it is entirely possible they won’t surrender to a handful of state troopers and the latter would have to call for major reinforcements. In the meantime, the nuts could attempt to “clean out” liberals, democrats, “feds,” gays, and “others.”
I still won’t recommend that liberals and sane people in general arm themselves, but I am armed and so are many others. I know some people would be queasy at this, it might seem like allowing yourselves to be manipulated into playing the enemy’s game. Real armed confrontation is not their game though. Their game is a power fantasy for low functioning intellects and they are bound to disintegrate if their victims strike back with the hard hand of reality. If one decides to take that route, I recommend a 12 gauge shotgun. They are cheap, reliable, and lethal. Ammunition is also available since shotguns don’t figure much in the RW uprising fantasy for some reason and they aren’t hoarding it.
