(Though it seems to me, the right wing twits complaining about disrespectful children are forgetting that “facing the prospect of impending death does wonderful things to focus one’s mind.” Their dismissive gibes are EXTREMELY disrespectful of the teens and their experience.).

Many adults, particularly older ones, seem to forget that they were teens, or even young, themselves once, and totally forget what it was like. This phenomenon seems especially pronounced among “conservatives,” who perhaps have more reason than most to blot out their tender years. This has probably been true since we came out of the trees, but I think that even though we can never really reach back across the gulf of time, those of us who can at least remember and sympathize are better off than those who can’t, or won’t.
